Events that we are currently discussing include ‘international food stalls’ with music and dancers from Nigeria, India, Philippines, Poland,Lithuania, Bolivia, which we hope will provide a better opportunity for the Ethnic Minority Community to engage with the wider Lucan Community – 2 stages “The Asgard and the Valhalla Stage live entertainment Historic view of Lucan through photographs – Historic walks/tours in the area – Performances of local choirs – Exhibition of local artists and street performers. Viking village arts and craft all-new addition to the festival.

2013 Festival Overview – Lucan Newsletter

The 100 statues of the Child of Prague scattered around the village on Sat night last worked and we had a wonderful sunny and warm day for the last event of the Festival which was our Family Fun Day.
The crowds  had to be in or around 6,000 as the Transport Museum people calculated that over 3,000 people alone boarded the Tram. Everyone we met had a good time with the Puppet Show,
Animal Farm, Reptile Zoo, Scouts, Play Schools, Lucan Boxing Club, Lucan Athletic Club, Bouncy Castles and of course all the entertainers both on our Main and auxilary Stages. The Gardai once again surpassed themselves with the Garda Band, Helicopter,
Speed Van, Dogs. Motor Cycles and the other demonstrations in the Station. A special word of thanks to the Army Bomb Disposal Unit and our own Dublin Fire Brigade.

Three children were lost for a few minutes but were safely reunited with their parents or maybe the parents were lost and the children found them.

Results of our different draws and competitions:
Baking:

1st  Peter McClean   coconut sombreros.

2nd  Andrew McClean   flapjacks

3rd  Peter Williams    iced fairy cakes

4th   Donal McClean    cookies

Duck race:

1st  no 209  Eilene Tucker €100

2nd no 303  Maryline Waters  €50

3rd no 247 Jacob Bennet  €25
Prizes sponsored by Centra Griffeen. Thanks to Swords Lions Club for the loan of ducks.

Sweets in a jar:

Darragh Bacon, Stephen Power and Marion Reid guessed the correct number as 68. The 3 names were put in a hat and Stephen Powers name was drawn as the winner.

We would like to thank the following Church’s Lucan Presbyterian, Church of Ireland and Methodist for their co operation and use of their facilities.

One of our supporters was left out of the list printed on the back page of our brochure and that was Cllr Guss O’Connell.

We hope that the week will stay a long time in people’s memories and look forward to next year.

Joe Byrne
Chairman
