The RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet will be making their first visit to the Church of Ireland in Lucan,

Many thanks to the Church of Ireland for the use of the Church of Ireland centre on Saturday May 21st for the Stars of Lucan, and a special thank you to Helen Ryan assisted us in our planning.

A very special event takes place in St Andrews Church on Friday the 3rd of June with the first visit of RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet to Lucan.

The RTÉ Quartet was founded in 1985 and won the London International String Quartet Competition in 1988. It is one of Europe’s most successful quartets, internationally recognised for its beauty of sound, clarity of texture and integrity of interpretation within an unusually wide and varied range of repertoire.

In Lucan they will perform the rarely performed and haunting Quartet in G major D. 887 by Schubert, published after his death, was used by Woody Allen in the film Crimes and Misdemeanors and is the centre-piece of this dramatic programme. Haydn’s Quartet in D minor opens the concert followed by four short, contrasting Russian pieces by four different composers, Prokoviev, Auerbach, Borodin and Shostakovich.

This promises to be a very special night in a beautiful venue – the perfect way to spend a summer’s evening!

Tickets are available in advance from the venue, 01 624 0976 or at the door on the night, €15 and €10 conc.
