Reflexology – Niamh Brady 9:15 – 1:00 Room 6 Niamh Christopher from Lucan, Co. Dublin qualified as a Reflexologist in October 2009. Reflexology has been practised for thousands of years. It is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. Applying pressure to these reflex areas, using the thumb, finger and hand will result in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body. Reflexology can treat Stress, Migraine, Sinus problems, Back problems, Breathing problems, Hormonal imbalances, Digestive disorders, Circulatory problems and many other problems.
Brendan Lynch – Men’s Health 7:30 – 8:30
An evening looking at issues around men’s mental health. This is abroad area and this talk will focus on two main areas:
- Cognitive issues, they way men think about themselves and life in general and what are the thought processes at times of stress.
- Do men have emotions? What does it mean to me a man with emotions, what do we do with them?
It could be said that men are prone to “think and do” when they are dealing with problems and life in general, however often the way we think about problems can be part of or even add to the problems themselves. The traditional man does not wear his heart on his sleeve, emotions are kept at bay, so if these emotions do exist what happens to them at times of stress? What role models do me have for the “emotional man”?
